Machine Head at Fillmore Minneapolis

Heavy metal is a spectrum. And while not all metalheads enjoy the same musical styles, there is something that has always brought them together: controversy. After the September 11 attacks, there was a massive amount of alternative and rock music that was banned from radio stations and removed from television. Three weeks after the attacks, Machine Head released their album Supercharger, which featured a single, Crashing Around You. The single’s music video happened to feature burning buildings, and, as you can expect, caused outrage among the general public. They were subsequently dropped from their label and resigned in the years following the controversy. Regardless of the outrage against them, Machine Head has continued to persevere. After everything, they still went on to tour the world and sell millions of records, so who’s really winning? See them as they are now for their show in Minneapolis. In terms of modern heavy metal, Machine Head are one of the greats. They’ve sold a staggering 3 million copies worldwide, and have continued to tour the world on and off for years, increasing their dominance over the mainstream metal scene. Now, they’re headed out on a tour that will take them far and wide. They’ll be starting things off at the Fox Theater in Oakland, California on April 5th 2025 and coming to a close with a few appearances at various rock and metal festivals, including Motocultor Festival in Carhaix-plouguer, France. Machine Head are in their element right now. It’s been a few years since their last full album was released, but you can hardly tell with the level of demand fans have. They’ve been touring on and off since 2022’s Of Kingdom and Crown was released, and they’re about to set out once again for another North American leg. The summertime will also see the band travelling overseas to tear up the stages at various metal festivals, including Tons of Rock 2025, Full Rewind, and Alcatraz Festival.
